Two weeks ago Asheville Buncombe Food Policy Council worked with community partners to install two outdoor pantries

Through a contract with the Office of Sustainability, Bountiful Cities and Asheville Buncombe Food Policy Council are reaching out to neighborhood groups to initiate conversations around emergency preparedness with an emphasis on food. This work has important synergies with the Climate Justice Initiative and both are evolving and being implemented in close coordination as we strive for authentic community engagement and project leadership.

Green Opportunities Offices Close with Continued Case Management and Student Support

Out of an abundance of caution, Green Opportunities will close the office except for essential staff to continue no-contact services on an, as needed basis. Case management services will continue remotely on an one-on-one basis.
“Green Opportunities office and YouthBuild program will remain focused on providing essential services to our students during this rapidly evolving circumstance in our community,” says Board Chair Sherman Williams.

In GO’s 6-month YouthBuild program, out-of-school youth ages 16-24 earn a GED while also earning nationally-recognized credentials, participating in hands-on training and service projects, and developing the life skills needed to successfully start a career or college.
