Green Opportunities’ 2016 Round-Up: Training, Employment & Community Impact by the Numbers

It’s been an action-packed year at Green Opportunities. In 2016, we provided training and wrap-around support services to 68 adult residents of Asheville and Buncombe County via three job training programs: GO Kitchen Ready, GO Build, and Table Service Essentials. GO graduated 78% of the students we trained and awarded 59 portable industry certifications to trainees.

What Does GO Mean to Me? Cycle 13 Graduates Reflect on Their Experience at Green Opportunities

While technical training is the biggest component of the Green Opportunities job training program, students also participate in life and employment skills training, and personal and professional development activities throughout the program.

GO Welcomes 19 New Culinary and Construction Graduates to our Alumni Community

Cycle 13 GO Build Graduates and Instructors

 

GO welcomed 19 new members to our graduate community last Thursday, November 17. 11 students successfully completed the GO Kitchen Ready training program, while eight students were recognized from GO Build. The ceremony was held in Ferguson Auditorium at A-B Tech Community College.

 

This class was the first to complete the initial segment of the redesigned GO Build construction training program, which consists of three 15-week modules.

go-graduation-cap-with-white-circle-vector-bwThe third and final Green Opportunities (GO) graduation ceremony of 2016 will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 5:30 pm in A-B Tech Community College’s Ferguson Auditorium, located in the Ferguson Building at 340 Victoria Road in Asheville. View a campus map. The event is free and open to the public.

 

The event will center economic justice and its vital relationship with GO’s organizational mission of connecting youth and adults to sustainable employment opportunities to improve community and environmental health.
