Meet Kierra


When 25-year-old Kierra came to Green Opportunities last fall, it was not the first time she had tried to make a change in her life.


She was living in a shelter and lacked work experience and motivation. She wanted to grow her independence and workplace skills, and devote herself to something meaningful. She found that opportunity in GO’s community-focused culinary program.

Edington Center to Host 4th Annual Southside Community Thanksgiving Dinner


In celebration of the holidays, Green Opportunities (GO), the Asheville Housing Authority, the Housing Authority’s Residents Council, and Southside community partners will host the 4th Annual Southside Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the gymnasium of the Arthur R. Edington Education & Career Center, located at 133 Livingston Street.

Green Opportunities Receives FreshLo Grant to Support Southside Arts & Agriculture Project


Green Opportunities in Asheville awarded grant as part of national program to increase health, economic opportunity


With a grant from The Kresge Foundation Green Opportunities will continue work on a project to combine healthy food & Creative Placemaking as part of the FreshLo initiative


October 16, 2017 (Asheville, NC) – Green Opportunities (GO) has received a two-year, $200,000 grant from The Kresge Foundation to support the Southside Arts & Agricultural Center project.
