Green Opportunities Announces Interim Executive Director Hire

Green Opportunities (GO) is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Interim Executive Director, Ben Williamson. Ben transitions to this role from the education sector, where he has served multiple schools over a 20-year career as a teacher and administrator. Ben holds a Master’s in School Administration from Western Carolina University (WCU) and is currently partnering with Buncombe County Schools and Asheville-Buncombe United Way on his doctorate research project, also through WCU, which is focused on reducing dropout rates.

Need a ride to your COVID vaccine appointment?


GO can help if transportation is an obstacle for you or a loved one. We are working to provide socially-distant, masked, COVID-conscious transportation in our large passenger vans for community members.

We have limited resources and will prioritize rides for public housing(HACA) and Section 8 residents, residents of Southside and Riverside/Hillcrest communities, as well as any members of marginalized communities with obstacles to transportation.

Skyrunner and Green Opportunities team up to provide free Wi-Fi to Southside and Hillcrest Communities


A crew from Green Opportunities (GO) and Skyrunner finished wiring 274 apartments in Southside for high-quality wi-fi on December 22. This morning, there are 200 individual devices online from 90 different households.


When handed a flyer with her login information, one resident said, “This is the best Christmas present you could have given me.”
