Guy Stivender had no cooking experience when he joined Green Opportunities’ Kitchen Ready training program. Since graduating in November 2016, Guy has worked as a contractor for GO’s Southside Kitchen social enterprise, preparing meals for the United Way’s Homework Diner program and assisting with Southside Kitchen catering contracts.

UPDATE: Kitchen Ready Showcase Dinner Rescheduled for January 25th due to Inclement Weather


Update: Due to inclement weather and icy road conditions, this dinner has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 25th. 


The students of GO’s 16th Kitchen Ready training cycle will flex their culinary muscles for this special 3-course dinner showcasing our students’ culinary skills. Students will be joined in the kitchen by guest Chef Adam M.

Meet Jerry


Asheville native Jerry first came to Green Opportunities in 2012, when he was just 24 years old and a member of the GO Training Team.


After completing the program, Jerry was one of several GO graduates hired to work on the renovation of the Reid Center — now known as the Arthur R. Edington Education & Career Center.
