Green Opportunities in Asheville awarded grant as part of national program to increase health, economic opportunity

 

With a grant from The Kresge Foundation Green Opportunities will continue work on a project to combine healthy food & Creative Placemaking as part of the FreshLo initiative

 

October 16, 2017 (Asheville, NC) – Green Opportunities (GO) has received a two-year, $200,000 grant from The Kresge Foundation to support the Southside Arts & Agricultural Center project.

Announcing New Schedule for Southside Community Kitchen’s Donation-Based Lunches

 

Beginning September 18, Green Opportunities’ donation-based meals are now open to community members on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the Southside Community Kitchen. Lunch will be served on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-1:00 pm, while brunch will be available on Fridays from 10:00-11:00 am.

 

All community members are invited to attend these community meals.

Green Opportunities Receives $900,000 YouthBuild Grant from U.S. Department of Labor

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 

Asheville, NC-based non-profit Green Opportunities (GO) has been awarded a YouthBuild grant by the U.S. Department of Labor. GO is one of 77 programs from across the country to receive a YouthBuild grant this funding cycle.

 

The $910,655 three-year grant will allow GO to increase enrollment of 16-24 year old young adults in its building trades training program while constructing affordable housing in partnership with the Asheville Housing Authority.
