Dear community members, funders, partners and stakeholders,
We are writing to share with you that Green Opportunities’ search for an executive director who will lead our organization into its next phase of growth and impact is underway. The Executive Director position was posted publicly in December, and applications are currently in review.
A Leadership Transition Committee comprised of Green Opportunities (GO) board members, staff, and community members has been assembled and is meeting regularly to ensure a smooth and effective executive leadership transition, under the direction of a Human Resources consultant.
Mr. J Hackett, formerly Student Development Director at GO, has been serving as Interim Executive Director since October 3. Under his leadership, GO continues to work diligently to refine our training and employment programs and prepare our students for success in the workforce. During Mr. Hackett’s three month tenure, GO has:
• secured new revenue-generating business contracts and new funding sources
• graduated 19 students from the Cycle 13 training programs, and kicked-off its 14th training cycle of Kitchen Ready and GO Build
• received renewed Pre-Apprenticeship status from the NC Department of Commerce
• secured A-B Tech approval for the new GO Build curriculum and funding for a program instructor
Mr. Hackett will continue to serve as Interim Executive Director for the duration of the leadership transition process. Future updates on this process will be posted on GO’s website, www.greenopportunities.org.
