Get Ready!

Are you ready for the inaugural Soul Shakedown by the River on April 30? Not only will the GO Kitchen Ready students be serving  homemade soul food, Lyric will be offering up her pop, soul and funk stylings AND Dr. Filth from Saturday Night at the Admiral will be spinning tunes.

There will be chances to win thousands of dollars worth of prizes from local businesses through a silent auction and raffle. We’ll also have yard games made by GO’s own Built Environment training program, who will be showcasing some of their excellent new woodworking products and even offering up some finished projects for sale (like their beautiful wooden cutting boards and magnetic knife racks). C’mon, you know you don’t want to miss this!

The Soul Shakedown will be held Thursday April 30th from 6:00-9:00PM at the Boathouse Riverside Pavilion (318 Riverside Drive in the Asheville River Arts District – map here). Big thanks to the Asheville Affiliates for helping us to pull this together!

How to Get Down

Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door and include all that entertainment as well as food, wine and beer. All proceeds go to benefit the core operations of GO’s work in training people for meaningful jobs and improving local communities! We are looking to make Soul Shakedown accessible for GO students and low-income community members, so if you’re interested in sponsoring a GO student ticket let us know or select that option during checkout.

Are You a Local Business?

GO is looking for additional sponsors for the event, including:

— Inclusivity Sponsors: Donations to subsidize tickets for our students and other low-income community members!

Raffle/Silent Auction: Have a product or service you’d like to donate to help GO raise money during the event? Contact us below!

Event Underwriters: We’re still looking to raise another $800+ to cover event expenses – let us know if you can help out.

Other Needs: as of 4/5/15 we are still looking for food suppliers/grocers to donate the raw materials for our soul food/Caribbean-themed meal and we are also looking for a large tent or two to use for the event in case it rains (at least 15’x15′).

Please contact neela@greenopportunities.org for info on student sponsorships, event sponsorship opportunities and in-kind gifts for the raffle and silent auction.

Thanks to our current sponsors!
