By: David KingThe GO Energy Team is currently working with Community Action Opportunities to weatherize sixty homes in the West Asheville "Weed and Seed" area. Our goal is to help people on fixed incomes lower their energy bills and maximize their comfort while reducing overall energy use and CO2 emissions.
Weatherization services typically include the following:
- sealing major air leaks
- installing insulation in attics, walls and floors
- sealing ducts
- carbon monoxide testing of combustion appliances
- installing jackets on water heaters
- weatherstripping
- caulking
- installing low flow shower heads and faucet aerators
- replacing existing lighting with CFLs
This free weatherization service is available to those who have an annual household income below twice the Federal Poverty scale (download chart).
